Italian manufacturers Dorin, Arneg and SCM Frigo have all become gold partners of CO2 (R744) cooling and heat pump products on the R744.com market, upgrading from silver.

Dorin has more than a century of compressor manufacturing experience and started developing CO2 compressors 30 years ago.

OEM Arneg produces a series of transcritical refrigeration racks, from small Mini Booster to industrial size BoosterXL, and remote cabinets for CO2 systems.

SCM Frigo has a broad R744 product portfolio, including subcritical and transcritical racks, cascade systems and coolers.

Dorin has a broad portfolio of CO2 compressors, from smaller subcritical models to larger models such as the award-winning CD600. CD600 is a 6-cylinder semi-hermetic compressor with a flow rate of up to 53.2m3/h (1,878.7ft3/h) and a motor power from 50 to 80HP. According to Dorin, it is suitable for commercial and industrial applications and is the largest compressor of its kind.

Dorin's latest development is a series of CO2 compressors suitable for mobile HVAC applications such as electric buses and railways. These BOXÉR compressors were introduced to the world at the Busworld Expo 2019 and were officially launched earlier this year after a period of testing and improvement.

The BOXÉR compressor has a compact and symmetrical design. Their height is 235 mm (9.24 inches), which is 42% smaller than conventional V-type compressors of similar capacity. "This makes the BOXÉR series ideal for rooftop installations where compressors must be as compact as possible," Dorin said.

The BOXER series has a cooling capacity of 4 to 28kW (1.1 to 8TR) at an evaporation temperature of 10°C (50°F), and a heating capacity of 4 to 23kW (1.1 to 6.5TR) at an evaporation temperature of -20°C (-4°F). These units are driven by inverters, ranging from 25 Hz to 70 Hz.

With the entry of carbon dioxide refrigeration into the small store market in the past few years, Arneg is preparing to expand this market with its Mini Booster rack designed for small and medium-sized stores.

Mini Booster can be used in indoor or outdoor applications, with optional sound insulation and a frame that can accommodate up to six compressors. Its cooling capacity is up to 94kW (26.7TR), suitable for medium temperature applications, and up to 20kW (5.7TR) is suitable for low temperature applications. It also has a heat recovery function for domestic hot water and heating systems.

Arneg also offers a smaller Globo unit, which has a medium temperature capacity of 14 to 38kW (4 to 10.8TR) and a low temperature capacity of 4 to 10kW (1.1 to 2.8TR).

The latest development of Arneg is the introduction of two new series of cabinets with "excellent visibility" and "highest energy efficiency" specially designed for CO2 refrigeration systems.

The London 4 series is a semi-vertical cabinet. They are suitable for "normal and low temperature" applications, as well as "heating, covered shelves, bread or fish counters," Arneg said at the press conference. London 4 cabinets can be customized using a variety of materials and have curved, square or chamfered corners.

The Arles series eliminated the metal support of the cabinet and created a product with a 100% glass display. These cabinets can be used as service counters or semi-vertical counters to assist sales and self-service.

In August, SCM Frigo responded to the increasing demand for carbon dioxide equipment in Europe and opened a new environmental protection facility covering an area of ​​13,000 square meters (139,931 square feet), which includes the company headquarters and manufacturing in Sant'Angelo di Piove di Sacco, Italy facility. The new plant gives SCM Frigo the opportunity to expand its production range to meet the demand for various systems and capabilities.

One product that has grown in demand in the past five years is CO2 condensing unit. "We produce between 1,500 and 2,000 devices a year, and this number is still growing," said Darren Lacroix of SCM Frigo's International Business Development Department. "Demand in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region continues to grow."

Lacroix points out that the condensing unit is most suitable for small grocery stores or convenience stores. The low temperature capacity range is 3-10kW (0.85-2.8TR), and the medium temperature capacity range is 8-20kW (2.3-5.7TR). Usually, each of them is used in stores.
