OSI Optoelectronics announces a series of Two-Color Sandwich Detectors, also called dual-sandwich detectors. The devices are specially designed for optical remote temperature measurements. OSI’s family of dual-sandwich detectors includes an uncooled silicon-silicon detector and an uncooled silicon-InGaAs detector, plus the recently introduced silicon-InGaAs photodiode with a two-stage thermoelectric cooler (TEC). The detectors are highly resilient to volatile environmental conditions and maintain precise measurements across a broad temperature range.
Independent of emissivity and unaffected by contaminants in the field of view (FOV) or from moving targets, the two-color photodiode series works by taking the ratio of radiation intensities of two adjacent wavelengths and comparing them with the standard black body radiation curves. The products are ideal in applications where a wide wavelength range of detection is required, such as flame temperature sensing, spectrophotometers, infrared (IR) thermometers for heat treating, induction heating, and other metal parts processing. Additional applications include astronomy, aerospace, measurement analysis, chemical science tasks, engine temperature monitoring and infrared target detection.
The compact, low noise, hermetically sealed TO packaged devices are manufactured for photovoltaic operation with no bias, however, they can be biased to the maximum reverse voltage specified, if needed. To view spectral response graphs and learn more about the typical electro-optical specifications, thermistor specs, the two-stage TEC data, plus mechanical specifications on these dual-sandwich devices, please view the data sheet here.
